A Study Concerning Islamic Philosopher's Attitudes Toward Aristotle's Theology

Message:
Abstract:
In present paper, the attitudes of western and especially Islamic philosophers concerning Aristotle theology will briefly taken into consideration. In Islamic philosophy, like what happened in western thought. There are several interpretations of Aristotle theology: A) Aristotle and Plato are the only Greek philosophers who addressed theological discussions for the first time. they believed in Divinity without acquiring such believe from somewhere else; (b) Although Plato, Aristotle and Socrates have addressed theological discussions, their religious insight is owed to the Prophets and religious-illuminative thoughts of eastern philosophers; (c) this supposition that Aristotle was a theological philosopher, mainly has been emanated from Kendy, Farabi and Ibn Sina’s misunderstanding that with ascribing EnneadsofPlotinus to Aristotle has considered him as a theological philosopher, while in Aristotle’s intellectual system, one can find no status for Divinity. By taking the opinions of second and third group into consideration, the author is going to defend from Aristotle’s theological thoughts and claims that despite of differences in Aristotle’s verdicts in this regard and apparent contradiction in his words, Aristotle’s Theological attitude can be considered as a novel, progressive, rational and creative approach which cannot be found its trace before him.
