Lasting peace from the perspective of reason and religion (with emphasis on the teachings of Islam and Christianity)

Islam is the religion of peace. Just and sustainable peace is regarded as the
absolute goodness, and war as the evil. Unjust and unsustainable peace is considered
as relative goodness. Orthodox Christianity has assigned a priority to peace, too.
Making peace with God is the basis of sustainable peace, and this is the spirit of
divine religions. When a person makes peace with his God, he is in true lasting
peace with himself, the whole of mankind, and the universe. He even avoids bitter
conflict with his enemies, and tries to turn hostility into tenderness in the light of
wisdom, pleasant preaching, and disputation in the best manner. He also tries to
establish human’s life on the basis of justice and beneficence. In this paper, our
criterion is not wars that some religious people have waged in the name of religion,
but is original religious texts – including Quran and Bible – and beliefs of sincere
Muslims and orthodox Christianity, which are the requisite for rationality.
