Analytic-Descriptive Approach to the Relation of Symbolism and Ecstatic Utterance based on Ruzbehan Baqli's Commentary on Ecstatic Utterances

Ecstatic utterances of mystics are sometimes identified with schools originated from literary symbolism. This study is an attempt to examine this identification and show its flaws. It goes on to analyze the meaning of symbolism and ecstatic utterance, explain the fundamental elements of each of them and finally identify the relation of these two with determining their similarities and differences. For it is through ascertaining such features one can avoid confusing ecstatic utterance of Sufis with literary symbolism and resulting schools.
