The effect of narrative therapy on social adjustment improvement in children with conduct disorder
Abstract:
In This study the effectiveness of narrative therapy on social adjustment improvement in children with conduct disorder (CD) was studied. In this quasi-experimental method a sample of 45 male 4 & 5 grader students with (CD) were selected from Tabriz primary schools and then randomly assigned to three groups (two experimental groups) and a control group. The data gathering instruments included an interview based on diagnosis criteria DSM-IV TR and child symptom Inventories (CSI-4) teachers form and Winelend social maturity scale. The narrative therapy was administered for experimental groups narrative therapy in mother tongue (Turkish), and narrative therapy in non-mother tongue (Farsi) in 11 session (45 minutes for 4 weeks) and control group received no intervention.The results of one way ANCOVA analysis showed that social adjustment of experimental groups was more than control group. It was concluded that narrative therapy could be used social adjustment improvement in children with conduct disorder
