Evaluation of the Effects of Repairs and Alterations of Crusher Plant Equipments on Technical Quality of Basalt Aggregates Production and Marshall Method of Mixturing

Message:
Abstract:
More than 90 percent of the asphalt concrete mixtures are formed with aggregates which are the main part. Basalt rock compared with other rocks causing rapid erosive impact on crushing equipments due to high gravity and rigidity. This leads to lack of uniformity of materials produced by crushing equipments and requires repairing and modifying of the crusher. This study evaluates the technical quality of stony materials produced before and after of repair and alteration of crusher plant and discusses the terms and conditions of Marshall Method in mixturing of these basalt aggregates. The results show that any modification and repair in the crusher plant affects the technical quality and the breakdown structure of aggregate production and eventually change the parameters of asphalt mixing design and the optimal bitumen and lack of attention to this issue may lead to unrealistic compiling reports about the quality of asphalt production and pavement at the project sites.
