Synthesis and Characterization of Vanadium Boride Nanostructure Powder Via Milling and Mechanochemical Reduction Process
Author(s):
Abstract:
In This Article Vanadium boride nanopowder was synthesized by mechanochemical Reduction method in a high-energy ball mill. The synthesized powders were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Xray MAP and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). According to X-ray diffraction the product predominantly consists of VB phases after 100 min milling without further heat treatment. Thermodynamic calculations show the reaction to be a mechanically induced self-sustaining one (MSR). Finaly The TEM results shown that vanadium boride nanopowders are mainly composed of nearly spherical particles with a mean diameter of about 43 nm.
