The Role of Health Locus of Control in Predicting Depression Symptoms in a Sample of ‎Iranian Older Adults with Chronic Diseases

Introduction and The aim of the present research is to predict the depression & general health based on health locus of control in older adults with chronic diseases.
The research design was correlation and the study population included all older adults at Shiraz city. For this purpose, 100 older adults participated in the study through the convenience sampling method. Research instruments included the Questionnaire of General Health, Geriatric Depression Scale and Health Locus of Control Questionnaire. To analyze the data, the multiple regression methods were applied using SPPS (version 17).
Findings: Regression analysis showed that Components of internal control (β= 0.41, p According to the results, it can be argued that the components of Internal control and God, in health locus of control variable’s, play an important role in general health and depression in older adults.
