A Novel Integrated Approach for the Machinery and Equipment Selection Problem

Abstract:
Machinery selection is an important issue in manufacturing and industrial systems, because an incorrect selection might end up to many problems which have negative impact on productivity, precision, flexibility, and the quality of products. Because of different influencing factors, it is required to consider both managers and experts for acceptable tolerance in measuring indices. In this research, an integrated approach using correlation coefficient weighting method, standard deviation, and axiomatic design enhanced with fuzzy numbers is proposed for the machinery and equipment selection problem. The proposed approach is applied to a real problem in Sairan Company. Results show that the application of the approach is satisfactory for both managers and experts and is implementable in machinery selection decisions.
