The Effectiveness of Word-Practice Software Using

The present study aimed to examine the impact of Natak word-practice software on improving the accuracy and speed of dyslexic children’s reading ability.
Thirty dyslexic students from the first, second, third, and fourth grades of a primary school in Bojnourd City were selected through convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to control and experimental groups, each containing 15 students. Children in the two groups were homologized with regard to age, gender and grade. Two parallel forms of Nema reading test were administered as pretest and posttest. After the pretest, the experimental group played with Natak word-practice software in eleven one-hour sessions, whereas students in the control group received no treatment. Finally, a posttest was administered for both groups, and the results were analyzed via independent samples t-test in SPSS 18.
The findings indicate that the word-practice software improved the accuracy of dyslexic children’s reading ability but had no impact on their reading speed.
