Streetscape Design Guidline of Urmia Imam Street

Abstract:
Townscape is the first level of interaction and communication between citizens and the urban environment through which cities are understood. Among the areas that city perspective become alive is urban streets which are created to achieve social interactions and meet public needs. This study tries to identify objective view of the spaces and the methods to apply techniques to develop urban landscape guide for Imam Street in Urmia. Theoretical-practical approach using library and field methods have been used to achieve the desired goal. Knowledge of the studied area shows the turmoil in the body and activities of Imam Street in Urmia and the study tries to promote the objective view. The study area has three main sequences: first sequence is with a governance of social perspective (between Velayat Square and Ataye intersection), second sequence is with culturally-educational perspective (between Ataye intersection and Khayyam intersection) and third sequence is with political perspective (between the Khayyam intersection and Engelab Square). In order to strengthen the rule of sceneries and the relationship between them, present study is trying to improve the quality of the street by landscape design regulations.
