Review land subsidence and landscape and geomorphological changes resulting in compaction Plains Case study: Plain Nishabur

Among the disasters that man has been grappling with during the past decades the subsidence might be alluded subsidence is pondered as an environmental disaster is noticed as an obstacle in achieving the economic social civil objectives like other natural disaster e.g. earthquake, drought, flood, hurricane, landslide, avalanche, creep and collapse. The Neyshaboor Plain is situated in the NE of Iran and has an area of 3477 km2 hosting mostly farmer residents. Considering the subsidence occurred in the plan and the subsequent openings/ grooves developed an the surface across the area, the geomorphic shifts and the grooves have been inspected in this study on this study also, the Landsat and Spot Satellites data together with the ArcGIS, Surfer and Excel have been applied in order to analyze the data and prepare the maps and diagrams. Furthermore, field surveys and study and number of geomorphic features have been involved in the study. The upshot has appeared as the classification of the features and conclusions made regarding the main causes behind the development of geomorphic features all the way after the subsidence. The severe fall in the groundwater level from 0.5 – 2 m in year has resulted in geomorphic hazard of subsidence leading to the emergence of gaps and openings across the Plain, the changes have, gradually, led to development of different shapes and numerous features and there, they are still in progress
