A Model to Identify and Interpret Sport Places Per Capita According to Distribution of Thiessen Networks in GIS Space

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to present a model to identify and interpret sport places per capita according to distribution of Thiessen networks in Geographical Information System (GIS) space. To execute the model, three regions (5, 6 & 13) of Isfahan city were considered and indoor pools were also considered as the sport place sample. DWG-format region maps and their blocks, spatial data and accurate geographical coordinates of indoor pools and population information of blocks were the substantial data of this study. After division and network distribution of regions by Thiessen function in Arc GIS, the per capita of each polygon was separately calculated by the presented formula and population of the blocks. Finally, the regions under study were classified into three sections (good, middle, poor) according to a need for indoor pool development by qualifying calculated per capita in the previous phase.
