The Main Factors affecting Happiness in Veterans

The purpose of this study was to specify factors that influence happiness in Veterans. For this purpose, 1135 veterans from 10 provinces selected based on quota sampling. Then, they administered the Oxford Happiness Inventory (Argyle, 1995), Big Five Inventory (John, Donahue, & Kentle, 1991), intentional activity Scale (made by researcher) and demographic questionnaire and data were analyzed. Findings show that There is significant positive relationship between extroversion, consciences, openness, agreeableness with happiness and significant negative relationship between neuroticism and happiness. There is significant positive relationship between intentional activities with happiness. There is significant positive relationship between age, education, income, mental and physical health and there is no relationship between marital status and sex. The most important factors in happiness in this sample are: neuroticism, extroversion, intentional activities, physical health and income. Among intentional activity, having clear purpose in life and continuous follow-up them, relationship with relatives have the highest relationship and use satellite, internet, listen to music, going to cinema have the lowest relationship with happiness.
