Abstract:
Iran and the GCC members has not succeeded to achieve a collective security mechanism in the Persian Gulf yet. With regard to the security dilemma of the region¡ the main question of the present research is how the contradictory state’s identities of Iran and the GCC members play a preventing role in materialization of the security community in the Persian Gulf region? This research in the framework of the constructivism approach and security community paradigm¡ hypothesizes that one of the main obstacle in forming of the security community in Persian Gulf region is contradictory identities of Iran and the neighboring Arab countries. In fact¡ the contradictory identities of Iran and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf has led them to follow different action and behavior in foreign policy arena; this has created an obstacle in the process of security integration in the region and eventually these countries have not achieve a stable security arrangement based on their collective wills and participation.
