Thematic and Methodological Analysis of Studies in the Field of User Tasks of FRBR Conceptual Model

Abstract:
Purpose
To analyze the subject, approaches and research methods used in a sample of studies in the field of user tasks of FRBR conceptual model to provide an overview of studies in this area.
Methodology
29 English research papers being published during 2001 to 2013 from credible international journals indexed in Scopous database were qualitatively analyzed using inductive approach.
Results
There is a schematic diversity in the field of user tasks of FRBR conceptual model. The most important topics explored in the studies were classified as: "challenges of cataloging in support of user tasks", "user evaluation and position in the conceptual model”, “improving user interface quality in public catalogs to support user tasks" and "current OPACs success in improving user tasks”.
Conclusion
User task FRBR researchers have not yet been successful in putting forward a clear result based on their research problems. One of the reasons can be due to the lack of understanding toward research problem which prevents them from taking FRBR conceptual model.
