Abstract:
Purpose
Qualitative evaluation of Iran Agricultural Organizations’ websites based on FAO criteria.
Methodology
In this survey, 32 websites of agricultural organizations around Iran were evaluated based on 118 standard qualitative criteria from FAO.
Results
59% of websites were in a “suitable” condition, 46.87% were in “Average” and 3.13% in “weak” level. Hormozgan website ranked first among all with 442 points followed by Ilam and West Azerbaijan jointly (439 points) and Khorasan with 438 points. The main problems of websites were weakness in user interface and technical matters, accessibility and usability deficiencies, empty pages, disobeying the copyright law and low-quality content.
Conclusion
Noncompliance to standards is the main problem in half of websites. So, the websites need to be revised and reformed based on FAO criteria –the international reference and standard in agriculture field.
