Emerging Social Gaps and the Question of Stability: the case of present day Iran

Alain Touraine in his book, a new model for understanding the world today (2005: 5), asserts that if, in recent centuries, the two paradigms of politics and economics determined the equations of stability and instability, In the 21st century this paradigm is culture, that by employing new concepts such as lifestyle, assertiveness, civil disobedience, sexual identity, quality egalitarianism and responsibly dealing, seeks to explain the possible future trends . She believes that women's groups and Separatist clusters, are the engine of this emerging order . based On Bordio's words, the issue of emerging gaps and the difference principle , in a sense, have become epoch-making in the contemporary world.And, with the transformation of society from foreign vulnerability to internal vulnerability, it could be argued that effective pillars of security and reliable stability will be obtained when individuals, instead of being passive components of the society ,become productive members of it. Therefore, the management of the gaps and preventing the normal gap from becoming detrimental ones, will be top on the agenda of modern politics.This paper, based on the Thorne paradigm, perceives the cultural stands as fundamental in the provision of changes, and focusing on emerging forms of social gaps (such as the generation gap, status-based economic gap, cultural ethnic gap instead of Violent ethnic gap and separatist, ethnic divide and gender -based self-expression),is trying To test the hypothesis that: classic gaps, change their roles and instead of vertical conflicts ,continue their lives as horizontal pervasive influence .The findings suggest that the emerging generation gaps, lifestyle and gender, using democratization potentials, and also economic orientation of social life, when looking for growing Self- Presentation and strategic sharing, will experience a continued and effective growth.
