Examining the Trend of Change in Learning Organizations Indicators: A case Study of IRIB Education Department

The Education Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), as the heart of the organization, should be the most effective, up-to-date and creative section of this “public university,” i.e IRIB. To realize this objective, the state-run organization has no choice but turning to modern methods of “learning management”, i.e. moving towards a learning organization.
Thus, the present article attempts to compare IRIB Education Department with learning organizations’ patterns and determine the gap between this department and a learning organization. It also compares the findings with those of a research carried out in the same department in the year 1383 (Iranian calendar) and finally offers strategies and measures helping the organization Education Department turn into a learning one.
The research employed a survey with subjects consisting of the department staff including instructors, managers and employees (except for logistics and service employees). The views of 100 individuals, selected randomly, were taken through questionnaires and finally analyzed.
The findings indicate that the average indices of a learning organization in IRIB Education Department in 1389 (Iranian calendar) compared to the year 1383 (Iranian calendar) have seen certain growth; however, this department is much far from a learning organization.
