Relationship between Job Stress and Nurse's Personality Traits and Spiritual Experiences

Job stress can affect the behavior and job performance in many different ways. Studies have shown that different factors are associated with occupational stress. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between job stress and nurse's personality traits and spiritual experiences.
This correlational descriptive study was conducted on 178 nurses working in different wards and 59 nurses in the operating room of Imam Reza Hospital in the Birjand City, Iran. Among this population, 134 nurses were selected through the simple random sampling method. To collect data, three questionnaires including the daily spiritual experience scale, big five factors of personality inventory and job stress questionnaire were used. Data were collected by the self-reporting method and analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation and regression analysis) with the SPSS 19 software.
Results showed that there was a significant relationship between feelings of the presence of the God from the components of daily spiritual experiences and job stress (P According to the findings of this study, there is a relationship between job stress with daily spiritual experiences and personality characteristics in nurses. So, it is recommended that the personality characteristics be considered in recruiting the nurses and positive spiritual experiences be developed to reduce their job-related stress.
