Confirmatory factor analysis of Academic Competence Scale in the female second secondary school students

Academic competence, includes some academic skills such as reading, writing, computation, problem solving, question and answer and studying which is necessary for success. The aim of this study was determining factor structure and psychometric properties of Academic Competence Evaluation Scale in the female second secondary school students. Study design was descriptive correlational and statistic population includes of all female second secondary school students in Tehran city in 2016 year which through them by multistage randomized sampling 120 & 450 subject were selected. The tools study was Academic Competence Evaluation Scale by Diperna & Elliott (1999), Achievement Emotions Questionnaire by Pekrun, Goetz, Titz, & Perry (2002) and the academic mean of students. Research data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and clustering of items. According to the results, outcomes of confirmatory factor analysis supported the factor structure obtained. The significant relationship between Academic Competence Evaluation Scale, Achievement Emotions Questionnaire and the student's academic achievement indicates criterion validity of this instruments. Cronbach's alpha coefficients for factors obtained in a range of 0.74 to 0.84. Based on the results obtained it could be concluded academic competency assessment scale has acceptable reliability and validity among female students in Tehran.
