A Comparative Study of Economic Ethics In Protestantism and Shiism

The present study investigates the fact that Max Weber’s interpretation of Islam has a very weak relationship with his special pronouncement on Protestantism. Accordingly, the scientific question of the present study is as follows: “How much is the economic ethics in Protestantism (in the framework of Max Weber’s theory of Protestant ethics) comparable to the Shiite economic ethics?” Thus, the research method was of comparison type seeking to find the similarities and differences of those religions regarding economic ethics. Accordingly, seven parameters of Weber’s idea of Protestant ethics were extracted and used as the basis for comparison of economic ethics. The findings of this study show that economic ethics in Protestantism and Shiism are not comparable on the basis of Max Weber’s theory.
