Abstract:
Riḍā (contentment) is one of the best moral virtues and one of the highest status of the true believers, which is achieved as a result of complete love of man for the Almighty. Riḍā means that a servant does not think about his own desire and satisfaction and just seeks the consent and satisfaction of his Beloved and, in a word, in content with what the Beloved wishes. This spiritual virtue can be examined from religious, ethical, theological, sociological and psychological perspectives. Using the descriptive - analytical approach and by referring to the verses, narrations, and the words of the philosopher, the present paper seeks to expound on the ethical dimension. After examining the word “Riḍā”, comparing it with the related concepts and studying its origins and pathology, this research studies the most important ways of obtaining this moral virtue from the two theoretical and practical aspects. Attention to divine fate and destiny, knowing the nature of the world and positive thinking are among the theoretical aspects, and thinking of death, worship and contentment are some of the practical ways of achieving this moral virtue.
