Sustainable Housing: Concepts, Dimensions, Indicators and Overviewing the Experiences of Countries

Urban and Urbanization development, In spite of providing facilities and welfare for human life has caused to increasing environmental destruction and pollution. Therefore, urban sustainable development theory has been raised due to negative impacts of urban growth and has proposed strategies to minimize urban problems. Attempting for urban housing sustainability is including these strategies. Housing as the most important land use in the cities, which is included high percentage of the city's area, determines the citizen’s quality of life and welfare. The housing design and construction, effect on urban environment, society, culture, economy as well as people Everyday life and their health and safety. Hence, housing sustainability is an important step towards urban sustainable development in different dimensions including social, economic, physical and environmental. The purpose of this paper is understanding sustainable Housing, its dimensions and Indicators on the one hand and to study samples of sustainable housing in different countries on the other hand. For this purpose, descriptive research method and document study have been used. The results among introduction of important indicators for sustainable development, show that housing development In addition to affecting on environment, effects on the economy, culture and social issues and therefore, the realization of sustainable housing, requires the development of special programs for urban development.
