The Role of Daesh in the Process of Globalization

Abstract:
The growth of extremist, fundamentalist groups in Middle East and North Africa (Boko Haram) is indicative of major changes in political, social and religious arenas in a way that the role of these groups in the global politics, especially in Middle East, could not be denied. Of these extremist groups is the Islamic Government of Iraq and Sham (Daesh) that appeared following some nation-states’ deficiencies, religious nationalism, and the individuation and frustration that resulted from capitalism and globalization, and quickly brought about various challenges to the world. The purpose of this study is understanding the role of Daesh in the process of globalization. The hypothesis is that Daesh has played an important role in globalization and the policies known as Marshal Plan by US and the global imperialism accelerated this process. This research has used descriptive-analytical method to explain the hypothesis.
