Assessment of Residential Environment quality in Urban Neighborhoods (Case Study: Neighborhoods of Khorramshahr and Ziabari of Rasht)

Living in desirable urban environments is considered as one of the most important influential variables of citizens’ welfare. To achieve this objective, planners, designers, and policy makers need to identify structures which provide the feeling of residential satisfaction for citizens. Therefore, this study focuses on indicators of residential satisfaction of citizens. The main purpose of this study is comparative investigation of the residential environment quality in neighborhoods of Khorramshahr Boulevard and Ziabari as the two middle neighborhoods from the residents’ points of view in Rasht. This investigation has been carried out using residential satisfaction approach by completing questionnaires. Data analysis was measured by SPSS and statistical methods as Hierarchical Multivariate Regression (HMR), One-Sample T-Test, and Spearman correlation and its reliability measured using Cronbach's alpha. Based on the results, in neighborhood of Khorramshahr, indicators of environmental social features and housing quality are above average level of residents’ satisfaction and indicators of access, physical features and public services are below the average level of quality and , in neighborhood of Ziabari, indicators of access, environmental social features, housing quality and public services are above average level of residents’ satisfaction and just the indicator of physical features is in average level of quality. Also in neighborhood of Khorramshahr, indicators of physical features, environmental social features, public services, housing quality and access and in neighborhood of Ziabari, indicators of environmental social features, physical features, access, housing quality and public services, respectively, are important to residents
