Study of Arctic Oscillation Effect on Temperature and Precipitation Anomaly at Cold Season in Central Iran

Study of factors affected these changes is of special importance. One of these factors is teleconnection patterns Simultaneous correlations between changes in meteorology parameters during time within different locations of the Planet Earth are called teleconnection which is useful because of predicting variable behavior of planetary waves. Arctic Oscillation is one of the teleconnection patterns that its effect on the climate of the Northern Hemisphere, especially in winter, is known. In this study, how relationship between climate oscillation and changes in precipitation and temperature in the winter in 9 stations in Central Iran. Data used are Arctic Oscillation index and temperature data (minimum, maximum and average) and daily precipitation for the period of 45 years (2010-1965). After averaging the daily values, the seasonal time series data for each variable separately obtained. To demonstrate the relationship between the AO index with temperature and precipitation stations of the Pearson correlation test was used. T-test was used to assess the significance level of correlation. The results show that temperatures changes and AO index Inversely related, so there are AO highest correlation and temperatures in winter season with two-month delay (about -0.6). The changes precipitation at cold season in the Central Iran and Arctic Oscillation is not seen a clear relationship.
