The Investigation of Heat Transfer in a Channel with Square Obstacle in Porous Media Using Lattice Boltzmann Method

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to investigate the flow thermodynamics in porous media in a channel with a rectangular obstacle, using the Lattice Boltzmann Method. Here, the Representative Elementary Volume (REV) scale with general Brinkman- Forchheimer model is used to model the heat transfer in porous media. To validate the results in porous media, the heat transfer in a channel and channel with a rectangular obstacle is modeled and results for Nusselt distribution on obstacle sides are compared with previous research. Then, the heat transfer in a fully pore channel is investigated and compared with previous data. Finally, the flow and heat transfer in a channel with a fully pore obstacle is studied and the effects of permeability and porosity are studied in different Reynolds numbers. The results show that the heat transfer is increased by increasing the permeability and the Reynolds number.
