Comparison of Self-compassion and Attachment to God between Prison and nonprison women: A case-Control study in Tehran

Prison women’s are contain a small group of society. However, growing part of society that It is important to pay attention to their mental and psychological issues. The aim of this study was comparing Self-compassion and attachment to God level in the prisoner's and non-prisoners Women in Tehran by 2016.
The method research of present was case-control. The statistical society were divided two groups. First, the prison women were in women’s prison in Tehran city and second was non-prison women were selected from the women who were came to mall centers, parks and Entertainment centers of city hall of Tehran by 2016. All of participants were group matching by age, married statues, and education levels. The samples of study was conducted on 120 (60 women prisoner and 60 non-prisoner) in Tehran 2016. For women prisoners were utilized by the available sampling method. However, the other group of women was selected with using simple sampling method. All of the participants were answered to the Self-compassion and God attachment questionnaires. The data were analyzed by the independent t test for two comparing the mean of two groups.
the findings revealed that the mean of scores of self-compassion and it’s the subscales (self-kindness, self-Judgment, common humanity, and mindfulness) were more than of the non-prisoner women group (P the results indicated that self-compassion and attachment to god in non-prison women were higher than the prison women. It seems to be that these psychological variables could be promote of resiliency and ability of people toward the life problems and prevention of the unethical acts in women.
