Citation analysis and drawing compilation network in historical studies of Islam world journal

Abstract:
The goal of this research is study of the citation and compilation network on essays of
scientific-research journal “historical studies of Islamic world” during the years 1392-1394(6
issues). However, this kind of studies usually is done after publishing a scientific journal in
several years, but our study is done to evaluate previous activities and to help removing defects
and also designing suitable programs to improve scientific level of the journal.
The approach of this research is citation analysis and for analyzing data, we have used
descriptive statistics and excel software and for drawing compilation network, we use
NODEXL3 and VOS viewer4 software. Studies have shown that in issues (1-6), 36 essays
have published that 16.7% by women and 83.3% by men is written. All have been compilation
without any translation. Out of 66 authors, the largest share in the production and
presentation of articles belongs to assistant professor with a frequency of 21(30.3%) and
the smallest share to the four level students and teacher with a frequency of 2(3.03%). Out
of 36 articles from 66 authors, 63.9% two authors(23articles), 25% mono-author (9articles)
and 11.1% tri-authors (4 articles). Resources and references of the journal are among
1158 citations that the most of them in language point of view, belongs first to Persian with
a frequency of 735(63.5%) second, Arabic with a frequency of 281(24.3%) and finally
English with a frequency of 99(8.5%). The average of number of citations for each article
is 32. (every article averagely has used 32 resources.
In term of kind, books with a frequency of 969(84%), then journals 127(11%) and
electronic resources 45(4%) are the most citations.
Moreover, Almostafa University with a frequency of 25%, Isfahan University with
23.4% and Tehran University with 10.9% have had the Most cooperation to this journal.
There are 4 self-citations titles that belong to Barani, Raja, Zandiye and Sajjadi separately.
The second issue (autumn and winter 92) with three titles self-citation, have had most
self-citation articles.
The highest density in compilation network of this journal, belongs to Montazer Al Ghaem
and Mohammad Ali Chalungar and then to Ali Asghar Raja and Mohammad Reza Barani.
