The Duties of Faculty Dean: a basis for task-oriented performance evaluation

The purpose of this paper is to identify the responsibilities of the departments of humanities at state universities, on the basis of which a model for assessing the performance of the faculty director is presented. The research method is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Using the grounded theory with conducting library studies and reviewing existing documents, it was attempted to describe the duties, responsibilities, competencies and skills required in the managing of department affairs, with the help of the edition 12 Minecraft Qualitative Data Analysis Software. For this purpose, content analysis was performed in three stages: open, axial and selective coding. 484 extracted code were extracted and then classified in 29 components (axial codes) and 7 main categories (optional codes). Based on the proposed model, the main tasks of the head of the faculty are leadership, executive management, quality improvement, change and updating, support and care, interaction, acquisition and strengthening of skills and abilities. The components identified in this model can be considered as the basis for compilation of the task-oriented evaluation pattern of performance and self-appraisal of the head of the faculty.
