Measuring Sense of Security in Urban Neighborhoods with an Emphasis on Social Parameters (Case Study: The 6th Region of Isfahan,s Municipality)

In term of sociological approach of safety, it is not possible to analyze safaty solely as a condition, without considering its related social aspects. The aim of this study was measuring the effect of Social factors on the sense of security in district 6 of Isfahan Municipality and finding solutions to remove the causes of insecurity in the district. It is noteworthy that research variables have been evaluated in terms of validity and reliability at an acceptable level. By applying theories related to the research, the physical parameters were obtained. According to Kukran's formula, a sample size of 382 subjects was considered and questionnaires were distributed among citizens of district 6 of Isfahan Municipality using cluster random sampling method. Results of the study showed that sense of security criteria in low in district 6 (t=-17.83). in relation to the effect of Social factors on citizen's sense of security in neighborhoods, it was determined that Social factors have been effective. In addition, it was stated that Social factors effective on sense of security are significantly different among neighborhoods of district 6 of Isfahan Municipality. Therefore, effective measures could be developed and implemented to prevent crimes through recognizing these factors in neighborhoods and determining their influence and weaknesses of neighborhoods. To do so, finally several suggestions have been made to improve the status of neighborhoods
