The Comparative Study of Arabic and Laki Proverbs

Proverb is a short sentence derived from an ordinary or sometimes a particular story among various nations and it can be a real manifestation of different ethnic groups and cultures. Every proverb represents a long history; therefore, a comparative study of the proverbs provides a good basis for comparison and cultural impressionability of the nations. The study aims to compare the proverbs in Laki, as one of the oldest Iranian language spoken in the west of Iran, with Arabic proverbs. Of many of Laki proverbs, thirty one proverbs selected which are ethically and socially relevant. The results show that speakers of Laki has had cultural interactions and had been influenced by Arabs throughout history .The comparative study of Laki proverbs with the proverbs in the Arabic is a good start to publicize and make known the culture of speakers of Laki.
