Spatial Analysis of Intra-City Accidents with Emphasis on the Role of Climatic Factors

Road accidents are one of the most important causes of mortality and severe physical and financial damage, and severely threaten the social, cultural and economic aspects of human societies. Among the factors involved in road accidents, the contribution of climatic phenomena such as slipperiness on road surface, snow, blizzard, mist, avalanche, and freezing is clear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the spatial analysis of intra-city crashes and identify spatial factors affecting traffic accidents in Zanjan. The present research is applied from a type perspective and of a descriptive-analytical nature. The statistical population is the total number of accidents occurring in 2015, which has been used in a full-scale study, and no sampling has been carried out. The method of data collection was using library method and field method. The results of the research indicate that there was a significant correlation at a level of 95% with a correlation of 497% between the temperature and accident occurrence in March alone, and in other months, no significant and direct correlation was seen between the temperature and the accident rate. The results show that due to the highest accident rate in September and considering the important role of traffic in the occurrence of internal traffic accidents this month, it can be said that the factors of the atmosphere have no major and determining role. It is considered as a second-rate factor.
