Simulation of the Performance of Urban High Speed Buses

One of the most important types of transport system modeling is the analysis and design of urban high speed buses in different traffic conditions. Due to the fact that it is intended for travelers to travel fast within the city and on the other hand, fast travel along with reduced traffic is the opinion of the experts, therefore, specialists should seek a solution that simultaneously makes it possible to travel fast and with high reliability to reduce traffic. In this study, in order to investigate the performance of the high speed bus system, different scenarios of the effects of implementing the prioritizing system at the intersections, the scenario of the possibility and effects of scheduling traffic lights and timing of bus movements, and the scenario of the use of high-speed lines with limited stop conditions using simulation were studied. The use of traffic simulation for analyzing transport system decisions is rapidly developing. The results of the survey of the research scenarios show that the method of coordination of traffic lights is better than the prioritizing system at the intersections, and the creation of a limited stop line with a limited number of overtaking positions can significantly improve the travel time and reliability of the system. The study also shows that the results of implementing different methods are strongly dependent on the specific conditions of each line. Providing a multi-scenario simulation model for the timing of traffic lights combined with a priority system and the ability to separate the buses seamlessly can help minimize stopping times for buses, waiting time for stations in time spots and increase the utility and reliability of travel.
