The Effects of Trust in Manager on Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Performance: Case Study Sirjan State Departments

The purpose of this research is studying the effects of trust in manager on organizational citizenship behavior and organizational performance in governmental offices of Sirjan city. The study is practical in terms of purpose and it is deductive in terms of general approach. Also it is a descriptive survey in terms of research strategy and a one-dimensional research according to the horizon perspective. In a survey research, using stratified random sampling method, 341 employees of Sirjan state departments have been selected as the sample. For collecting data three questionnaires were used including trust in manager of McAlister (1995), OCB of Lee and Allen (2002) and organizational performance of Kirkman and Rosen (1999). Reliability is confirmed by Cronbach's Alpha coefficients of 0.91, 0.82 and 0.88 and composite reliability of 0.93, 0.85 and 0.95. Confirmative factor analysis, convergent and divergent reliability were used for validity confirmation. In order to test hypotheses, structural equations modeling by Amos software was used. The results showed that organizational citizenship behavior has a mediating role in the relationship between trust in manager and organizational performance. Accordingly, managers of government departments should increase citizenship behaviors and improve organizational performance through efforts to increase the sense of trust of employees to the managers.
