The Role of Strategic Information in Sustaining the Air Defense Capability of I.R. of Iran

Information as one of the key components of the decision-making in military operations has had specific multiple effects on the performance of the air defense system and plays a significant role in the process of conducting air defense operations. Defense readiness or the so-called defense condition is in fact the propulsion engine of the air defense system in the optimal use of equipment, man power, commander's correct and on time decision-making in the field of air defense combating that is the basis of degree change of that organization from having accurate and timely information about the degree of readiness, changes in the number of operational personnel and the readiness of warfare and other air defense systems. Accessibility of air defense system to the proper operational information will increase the level of readiness, proper effectiveness, and the prevention and exhaustion of employees and equipment, and subsequently maintaining the staff's threshold of tolerance and reliability of the air defense system. In view of the existence of transnational and regional threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the information system must also provide the operating system information to the most up-to-date through the use of a variety of equipment and personnel. In this research, the researcher considers all the documents related to air defense operations and military operations information as the study population and through using the qualitative analysis method explains its aim. By examining the documents, the researchers have concluded that there should be a relationship between the goals, the ability to perform operations (weapons range, range of detection systems, etc.), defense forces, penetration of information systems, degrees of readiness and appropriate status of the air defense system in such a way that while preserving the power of the air defense units, there is a good readiness to respond to possible attacks. For this reason, lack of balance between the mentioned elements can lead to the wearing of the air defense system from the point of equipment and power and finally the lack of appropriate accountability.
