The importance of wild wheat germplasm in breeding for resistance to abiotic stresses

Genetic erosion in cultivated wheat provides an important reason for evaluating its gene pool and their wild relatives. The wild relatives of wheat due to their desirable genes and even useful alleles can be served in breeding programs for either biotic and abiotic tolerance or resistance stresses. Up to now, many studies regarding the capability of wild relatives of wheat confront with abiotic stress like drought, salinity, cold and e. t. was done. The capability of these wild relatives to use in breeding programs-related to abiotic stress is discussed in this review.
