Evaluation of Echocardiography after Mitral Valve Repair in Patients with Severe Mitral Regurgitation

Valvular heart diseases are Common. Severe mitral valve regurgitation (MR) are primary or secondary to other heart diseases, in previous years, severe MR was operated to mitral valve Replacement with the mechanical prosthetic valve. In this study, we have done mitral valve Repair in my hospital and have shown the results of mitral valve repair.
in this study, between 2011-Dec 2014, we have evaluated 210 patients with severe MR after the operation.Trans Esophageal Echo Cardiography (TEE) was done for all of the patients before and after operation (one week and 6 months after operation). Collected data were analyzed with SPSS-23.
The ages of patients with functional MR were 43-85 years, 113 patients were men and 60 patients were women. The age of patients with primary MR were 31-55 years, 14 patients were men, 23 patients were women Repair: 143 patients (83%) without M.R, 27 (15%%) patients have mild MR, 3 patients (2%) have At least mod MR.
From patients with primary MR, after Repair, 30 patients without M.R (81%), 5 patients (14%) mild MR, 2 patients (5%) have At least moderate MR.
This study showed, in patients with severe functional MR, primary MR, M.V. Repair were good and in the future, it can be instead of M.V. Replacement.
