Morphosemantic survey of  u suffix in Kermani dialect: a cognitive approach

The present study aimed to investigate “u” suffix in Kermani dialectwhichis connected to various grammatical basesdespite similarity in function and is not totally similar concerningsemantic aspects. By being added to various lexical items, this affixcreates a various set of different concepts. The meanings including: diminution, intimacy, debasement, frequency, possession, similitude and etc. By considering these semantic complex fields in the mind, morphologyattempts to evaluate the relationship between form and meaning and recognizepart of this empirical knowledge in mind and recognition. Thus, the author of this study applied cognitive morphology mechanisms raised by Hamawand (2011) and investigatedtheirachievements as categorization, conceptualization and configuration to studythe semantic functions of this suffix and finally evaluated relevant cognitive indices in their formation.
