Abstract:
The question as to what is the status of Arabic music in recitation of the Qur’an and whether the music we use in recitation of the Qur’an is merely Arabic or the Iranian systematic music is involved in it, requires to be discussed and deliberated on. In this research, we intend to clarify whether one should learn music and recite the Qur’an with the music learned or since the lofty contexts of the Qur’an enjoy innate music and melody, one should harmonize the music with the verses, with respect to their content. It is indisputable that the recitation of the Qur’an is a technique or, in a more general sense, an art. Perhaps we can say that it is the point of confluence of art and religion and in order to enjoy it one should have some knowledge about it. In fact, learning the vocal techniques of music is a prelude to learning a variety of the Qur’an recitation methods. In one respect, the Qur’an is a musical melody and in another, musical melodies are hidden in the essence of the verses and even in the vocabulary of the Qur’an, which automatically force us to recite it melodically and rhythmically.
