Assessing Sustainable Regional Development with an Emphasis on Transport Indicators

One of the most important components of sustainable development in the country is balanced development of transportation in the cities of each province. Sustained transportation links other dimensions of services and trade at various national and international levels and directly or indirectly affects other sectors. The purpose of this study was to assess the level of sustainable transport development in the cities of Tehran province. In this research, the research method is applied in terms of the purpose of the research and from the point of view of data collection; it is a descriptive-analytical type. In this study, we used a panel analysis method to determine the weight of the indices using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) process in Expert Choice software. The VIKOR model was used to determine the rank of cities in Tehran province. The results of the study showed that transport indicators in the cities of Tehran province have not been distributed equally, and the cities of Tehran, Malard and Robat Karim have the highest level of transport indicators in Tehran province, and Pakdasht, Islamshahr, Qods and Baharestan have the lowest level of transportation indicators.
