Abstract:
The establishment of Bahmani government and the manner of Sunni rulers who supported the Shiites and descendants of the Prophet (Sadat) caused the migration of large groups of Shiites from different parts to Deccan. Following the downfall of Bahmani government, their successors Such as Qutb Shahi, Nezam Shahi and Adil Shahi recognized Shiism as the official religion of their territories. Their rulers did numerous measures in order to support Shiites. This led to the migration of a lot of Shiites from different parts including Iran and Iraq to Deccan in this period, and they enjoyed the support of the rulers of these states. In this article, we are, through reviewing library sources, to study the effects of these Shiite rulers’ measures and Shiites’ immigrants to Deccan on the spread of Shiism among the indigenous people. By examining the various sources, we come to this conclusion that the actions of these governments make the people of this area familiar with Shi'i, but it does not bring any dispositions towards Shiism.
