Technology Intelligence System for Energy Supply and Power Plant Industries: Case of MAPNA Power Plant Construction and Development Company

Technology intelligence systems are considered as a significant factor of competitiveness in organizations. Technological changes, on the one hand, and the requirement for high-tech changes in products and processes, on the other hand, have contributed to the development of technology intelligence systems. Due to the rapid technological changes in energy supply and power plant industries, companies in these industries have to set up the technology intelligence system, including MAPNA development company (MD1CO). In this study, based on literature review and the interviews with experts, 120 indicators have been proposed and classified under 5 factors (strategic management, innovation management, knowledge management, technology management and IT management) and 26 dimensions for any technology intelligence system. Based on questionnaire data and using factor analysis and structural equations, 84 indicators were designated to be significant in technology intelligence systems. Based on the results, the strategic management factor was at the top of the list. Based on the results, all of the five factors should fully be taken into account in designing the technology intelligence systems for power industry. The paper concludes by some policy recommendations for early identification of technological changes and opportunities to accelerate and successfully deploy the technology intelligence system in energy supply and power industry
