A Survey on the Knowledge and Attitude of Mechanics towards the Principles of Occupational Health and Safety in Abarkouh

Automobile in the modern societies is a potential source of toxic materials and repair of automobiles exposed to wide range of adventures. Evidences shown mechanics complain of injuries, pain, respiratory disorders, cancer, muscle-skeletal disorders, skin and eye problems, hand fatigue and anxiety because of high workload and low job satisfaction. The goal of this study was survey on the knowledge and attitude of mechanics towards the occupational adventures in Abarkouh. This study was conducted among 91 Automobile repairs in Abarkouh city. Most important parts of the job include battery car repair, mechanical repair, oil change and painting. To do this study a researcher made questionnaire used. After reviewing the situation, data was analyzed by software SPSS16 and then training programs was presented to repairman’s. Results showed no significant relationship between age and awareness and attitude among repairers (p>0/05). Level of education had a significant relationship with awareness (p<0/05). Results showed increasing education level resulting in awareness increasing. Work experience has no significant relationship with awareness and attitude among repairers (p>0/05). This study showed that general awareness status is acceptable, but also to promote awareness and changing attitudes towards the health and safety workplace, environmental interventions and face to face educational strategies otherwise deemed of interest.
