Social Impacts Assessment of walkways on Citizens in old textures (Case Study: South Khayyam Walkway of Urmiye City)

In recent decades, many cities around the world have been endeavor to improve life conditions of their central textures. One of the most effective approaches to this field is creative of walkway centers. Urban walkways has most importance development projects that require an analysis and assessment of different dimensions; therefore, social-cultural and economic impacts assessment of walkway will help to urban planners and managers for provide rational and accurate implementation of these projects. The purpose of present study is social impacts assessment of the walkways (SIAW) in old and historical urban textures, South Khayyam walkway of Urmiye city. The type of research, applied and research method is post-implementation evaluation, which is analytical methods. In this research, documentary and survey methods have been used to collecting of data. Data analysis method is structural equation model which was carry out with LISREL software. The direct and indirect effects of each indicators and variables demonstrate that the social justice, social capital, safety and security indexes in South Khayyam walkway faced with numerous constrains and obstacles, and some indicators such as social interaction, citizenship identity and citizen participation have a relatively good status. In addition, the social impacts of Khayyam's walkway have been positive in terms of participation and promotion of social coherence, but considered lack of appropriate cultural infrastructure, safety and justice-oriented approach. Indeed, effects of above mentioned walkway have not been enough to solve many social problems that have brought city growth into its old texture.
