The Rhetorical Miracle of the Qur'an in the Light of the Preposition Lām
Author(s):
Abstract:
The Holy Qur’an is a firm document and an unchallenged miracle of the Final Divine Mission. The beauty of the verbal Revelation may be displayed in the context of the Qur’anic language, in which the external words represent the internal concepts of the verses and the rhetorical function of phrases is most precisely analyzed in the form of grammatical rules. The study of prepositions as most partial units of the Arabic grammar, that is independent along with other words, founds a delicate network inside this inimitable word. The preposition of lām is a display of a particular meaning for its own, and the substitution of prepositions is a rhetorical elegance that is not defined only in the caravan of metaphor and allusion. Here, the letters play in their own place and, if they substitute each other, they perform rhetorical task of the sentence, in order to speak of the beauties of prepositions with the help of letters and thus convey the exact message of the Qur’anic words. The recognition of the truth or the permissibility of the meanings of the letter lām and the relation of this letter with its subjects, is one of the achievements of this paper, which aims to accurate understanding of Qur’anic concepts and teachings and prove the rhetorical miracle of the Qur’an.
