Abdulaziz Sachedina, His Life and Scholarship

The following is a wide survey illustrating the life and works of Dr. Abdulaziz Sachedina, professor of Islamic and Shi’a studies at Western universities, who is a member of Shi’a community, as well. This essay is originally an English interview with him published on the online publications of Maydan on September 13, 2017, and is an account of Sachdina’s life, history, scientific works, thoughts, and recommendations as a scholar who has studied many years in Islamic studies, especially in topics concerning Shiite and has left many traces in this direction. He spoke all the details in a sympathetic and analytical language and with a look at the past, present and future of Islamic studies in the West, and finally gave recommendations to progressive generations in the fields of religion and Islam.
