Scribes Personal Notes

The manuscript scribes sometimes wrote a piece of poem or prose in Persian or Arabic at the end of the manuscripts they scribed. These personal notes entailed different themes including: invocations to the sublime God; demanding prayer for themselves from the readers of the book; complementing that book; ethical advice and points; chronogram of the scribing; and expressing gratitude to God because of the completion of scribing. The author has provided 14 cases of Arabic poems, 16 cases of Persian poems, and one case with Arabic rhymed prose from different manuscripts.
