Abstract:
Mentha genus was used in ancient medicine and the application of its different essences in pharmaceutical industry, perfumery, health products, cosmetics, and flavors in the food and drink industries has been important. In the present study, the chemical components of the essence oil from the leaf and stem of M. mozaffaranii were extracted and their combinations were explored and identified. For this purpose, plant’s aerial parts (leaf and stem) were collected from Sarchahan Mountain in Hormozgan province and their essence was extracted through water distillation. The compounds in the essence were then extracted and identified using GC and GC/MS. Twenty-one compounds were identified in the essential oil of M. mozaffaranii leaf. Of the identified compounds, iperitone (45.2%), linalool (17.3%), 1, 8- cineole (13.4%) and Mentone (6.7%) were the most major ones. Additionally, 13 chemical compounds were indentified in stem essential oils which contained the same major components as the leaf.
