Political participation and social factors affecting it (Comparative Study of Students and Citizens)

The main purpose of the present article is to answer this fundamental question that between the three variables of sense of political effectiveness, profit and social dignity, which have a more determinant role in explaining political participation. The sample size is 800 people selected from the two statistical communities. The first population consists of residents of Babol and Sari and the second population consists of students from Mazandaran University and Tehran Science and Research university.The findings show that the average electoral participation of individuals is higher than their non-electoral participation and women are looking for profits more than men from political activity. The findings also show that there are significant relationships between the types of political participation with the three main variables.In multivariate linear regression, between the dependent variables of electoral, non-electoral and total political participation, with independent variables of feeling political effectiveness, profits and social dignity, It was found that in the three final presented models, the variable of gaining social dignity was excluded from the model, and the effect of the feeling of political effectiveness on the types of political participation is greater than the effect of the Benefit variable on the dependent variables.
